Learning the Basics of Caregiving

Level 1 – Caregiving Fundamentals

Become A Professional Caregiver

Good Neighbor provides professional instruction in caregiving by state-approved instructors who provide up-to-date information, skills testing, and guidance for you to become a Direct Care Worker (DCW), as envisioned by the State of Arizona (azahcccs.gov and azdirectcare.org). All students earning a Direct Care Worker (DCW) qualification certificate will be recognized by any caregiver employer in the state of Arizona. The curricula follows state and federal guidelines. Accordingly, Good Neighbor adheres to the Principles of Caregiving (azdirectcare.org) as the core of its Direct Care Worker (DCW) classes.

Arizona Caregiver Requirements

The changes in caregiving rules and regulations in Arizona are discussed in detail at the following two websites Arizona Direct Care and Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS). These changes are mandated for most caregivers, including those who care for family members. Please contact us at ACE if you have any questions or concerns about these new guidelines and rules.

Let Good Neighbor Provide Direct Care Worker (DCW) Training For Your Agency

If the caregiving agency business where you are employed is contracted with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)—the Medicaid program in Arizona—but does not have an approved licensed Direct Care Worker (DCW) training facility, we can provide the caregiver training required.

The Direct Care Worker (DCW) training also provides the necessary training if your agency is contracted with the Department of Economic Security / Division of Developmental Disabilities. We provide the training required to care for individuals with developmental disabilities, and we also offer Prevention & Support and Article 9 classes. Article 9 is required by The Division of Developmental Disabilities. Caregiving courses at Good Neighbor exceed state and federal requirements.
