The updated P.R.O.U.D (Providing Respectful Opportunities and Understanding De-escalation) curriculum previously known as Prevention and Support has been thoughtfully redesigned to align with current industry best practices while emphasizing a strong person-centered approach.
This revised curriculum introduces enhanced content across core subject areas, along with the integration of key focus areas including Person-Centered Support, De-escalation and Safety Awareness, and Trauma-Informed Care. Additionally, physical intervention techniques have been restructured to promote less restrictive practices, prioritizing the safety, dignity, and well-being of the individuals we serve.
A central component of the P.R.O.U.D curriculum is the expectation that Direct Care Workers (DCWs) and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) not only understand but are able to effectively demonstrate de-escalation strategies. This shift reinforces the importance of proactive support, fostering positive relationships, and reducing the need for physical interventions.
