Respite Care allows the primary caregiver time off to attend to personal needs or just take a break. Caring for someone can be very hard emotionally and physically, it is important that caregivers take time off to relax and rejuvenate. Our respite caregivers are fully trained to perform any service the primary caregiver would perform, typically they are providing care for a short period of time until the primary caregiver returns.

When life gets a little confusing, Good Neighbor can help you make sense of it all.
A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease can be very stressful to families. Balancing work and caring for a loved one can be exhausting for family members. Good Neighbor Support Services can provide a caregiver that allows your loved one to stay in their home surrounded by familiar settings and allows you to balance work and continue to care for the rest of your family.
Alzheimer's Disease has two main factors to consider. Cognitive Symptoms that affect memory and Behavioral Symptoms that affect personality changes causing irritability, anxiety and depression. Although there is no cure for Alzheimer's, there are some treatments available through drugs and other non-medication strategies.
Never leave them alone … we have trained caregivers who know how to help.
Good Neighbor Support Services utilizes the non-medical strategies. The goal of our care is to provide a safe, friendly and fulfilling home setting. We do this by removing items from the home environment that trigger challenges and obstacles. We work closely with Alzheimer's groups and families and follow their suggestions in developing plans of care.
The following are some of the techniques we utilize:
• Eliminate clutter and noise
• Develop daily routines
• Provide an opportunity for exercise
• Monitor comfort and discomfort
• Avoid open-ended questions
Behavior can make the individual confrontational. We provide a home setting that is agreeable to the client and that minimizes any confrontations due to environment. Our goal is to help an individual and their family live happier and more fulfilling lives.
